 The International Personnel Committee is accepting letters of application for a Communications Services Administrator, to be employed at International Headquarters in Austin, Texas. The Administrative Board plans to interview candidates in November and offer a start date in January 2009.

The Personnel Committee will review completed applications in September (with intent to propose interviews for the November 2008 Administrative Board meeting) and continue to receive applications until the position is filled.

   Members Honored for Earning Doctorates [08/07/08]

During the 2006-2008 biennium, 40 women earned their doctoral degrees and submitted their documentation. Twelve of these outstanding members were celebrated at the "Wisdom and Passion Luncheon" at the 2008 International Convention. They were introduced and their dissertation titles read to the nearly 1500 attendees who applauded their accomplishments. Membership and Program Ideas from the Biennial Reports [08/07/08]

Are you looking for some new ideas for Membership issues in your chapter? Would you like to know the variety of programs and projects conducted by chapters all over the Society? That is the sort of information gleaned from the Biennial Reports submitted by chapters to their respective state organization chairs. Then these ideas are compiled in order to share them throughout the Society. Feel free to utilize and adapt these ideas so they work for your chapter.

 Membership Has Exploded! [08/04/08]

Congratulations to the 749 chapters who reached the Membership Explosion goal of gaining at least 8 new members during the 2006-2008 biennium! In addition, 290 of these chapters met the second goal of at least 4 of these new members with 3 to 10 years of experience. that was distributed to convention attendees in Chicago. And look for the next challenge from the International Membership Committee!


2008-2010 Administrative Board Elected [07/29/08]

 Dr. Carolyn Rants, Iowa, will serve the Society as its 2008-2010 International President. She has chosen From Vision to Action: Advancing the Society as her theme for the biennium. Her comments at the Presidents’ Banquet Saturday night following her installation will be in the September/October DKG NEWS. Let Global Exchange Enhance your Travel [07/07/08]

 

To promote friendship around the world, specifically in the 16 member countries of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, the Global Exchange program allows members to visit a home in another member’s country.  The sign-up page provides members a way to offer their homes to other members. Where in the world do you live? What accommodations do you have? Do you have limits or rules about pets, handicap access, ages? When is your space available? Answer these questions and add whatever information you believe is pertinent to participate in the Global Exchange. Or log on and find a place to visit!

Fireside Chat for Golden Gift Participants [07/07/08]

 

The Golden Gift Leadership / Management Class of 2008 gathered at International Headquarters in Austin, Texas, on July 1 for a “fireside chat” with International President Dr. Barbara Day and the Headquarters Professional Staff. Brought to the building by members of Austin chapters – their “angel drivers” – Golden Gift participants toured Headquarters, enjoyed a light snack, and shared their thoughts about the Society. The International Professional Affairs Committee has posted several new programs ready for use in your chapter. Look for ideas about mentoring new professionals as well as new chapter members. Learn Parliamentary Procedure from the Masters: Jean Gray and Ardith Inman [06/18/08]

 

Reserve February 13-16, 2009, to attend a Parliamentary Training Seminar in Chicago, Illinois, if you are one of 30 members chosen to attend this intensive session. Eunah Temple Holden Leadership Fund provided $500 start-up funds for this year’s session. Applicants selected will pay a registration fee, lodging, transportation, and NAP membership examination fee.
